What's Been Happening!

Grade 1 News

Grade 1 students have been building their problem solving and spatial relationship skills by sliding, flipping, rotating and turning the seven tangram pieces into the animals shown on the template. Looking at the Tangram pieces from different angles and perspectives assists with the development of strategizing and generating different visual images in a fun-filled and engaging way. Tangram activities can easily be replicated at home if you look for Tangrams on your search engine you will find many online and hands-on experiences.

Another activity that the students had to learn was 'How to protect your lunch around a flock of seagulls!'

5/6 Incursion

Year 5/6 students are loving this term’s  Inquiry unit ‘Narrm: The Past, The Present, The Future’.

Ben from the St Kilda Eco Centre amazed us with his knowledge, stories and fossil collection.

Did you know… ?

  • Scientists find prehistoric fossils just 30 metres off shore at Beaumaris and Black Rock.
  • Melbourne was underwater for thousands of years.
  • Grey Nurse Sharks are now extinct in Victoria.
  • Tasmanian Devils are being released on mainland Australia.
  • We held ancient skulls, jawbones and megalodon teeth in our hands.
