The Rest of the School

Behind the Curtains

Simultaneous Story Time

On Wednesday, May 24th, teachers and students all around Australia settled down at

11 a.m. to read a book simultaneously! This year's book was "The Speedy Sloth", written by Rebecca Young and illustrated by Heath McKenzie. Students read the book with their teacher and then completed many different activities such as colouring, mazes, even sloth making!!!

Partnerships with Parents & Carers Afternoon Tea

On Tuesday, May 23rd, EHSS held its second Partnerships with Parents and Carers Afternoon Tea of the year.

It is a great way for parents and carers to meet each other and members of staff in a less formal environment, working together to create resources for our students to use in the classroom. Thank you to all the parents and carers for donating your time.

AFL Afterschool Footy

On Monday May 22nd, EHSS hosted its first after school footy event run by the AFL and Melbourne Football Club. It was a great way for students to unwind after a hard day of learning. Physical activity is a great way for students to release and express their excess energy levels in a positive way.

Registration is open for the next sessions. For more details, (including access to 3 FREE AFL games) please check out the flyer located on the "Support Services & Information" page. The team at EHSS thank the AFL and Melbourne Football Club for their support.

Professional Learning at EHSS

On Wednesday, May 17th, the staff of EHSS embarked on a 2 year Professional Learning Journey to learn about the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM). BSEM is a student-centred approach that provides teachers, leaders and allied education professionals with a practical toolkit that enables teachers to increase engagement with students with complex, unmet learning needs, and successfully improves all students' self-regulation, growth and academic achievement. It was a fantastic day of learning and participation by all involved. We look forward to Day 2 in Term 3.

Diversity Dash

On Wednesday, May 10th, we celebrated Diversity by participating in a Diversity Dash Colour Run. Students with permission, transitioned well to the oval, where they had some fun completing physical activity and colour!

A big thank you to Lois and Sara from the PE Department for organising and facilitating the event!

It was a fantastic success that was enjoyed by all participants!!!
