Indigenous Program Opportunity
Science report
"Dr. Seamus Delaney, senior lecturer and head of the Science, Technology and Environmental education discipline at Deakin University came to our school this term to provide students with a unique opportunity to learn about some Indigenous Science Practices.
Students investigated native berries to Australia and tested for vitamin C content within these berries. Additionally, students extracted the pigments from these berries and used their light capturing properties to create solar cells!
Students had a great time learning about both the Indigenous history and the science behind these native plants, as well as smashing the berries and being able to generate electricity with the sun.
We are very thankful to Seamus Delaney and to Deakin university to provide this fantastic opportunity for Reservoir High School."
