Mandarin News

The Year 3/4 students have been learning to name different sports in Mandarin.

In Week 7, the students conducted a survey to find out what their classmates’ favourite sport is, to practise their vocabulary and the sentence patterns they have learnt. The students needed to ask the question, “What sport do you like?” and tell their classmates the sport they like in Mandarin. The students presented their results using the bar graph.

In Week 8 , the students practised tracing and writing some Chinese characters related to soccer and tennis. They explored the process of character construction, including counting the number of strokes and following general rules of stroke order.

Last week the students at Sacred Heart Kew celebrated and embraced Chinese culture by participating in a number of different activities on Mandarin Day. Thank you to our wonderful PA parents for organising the special treats for our students. Thank you to our Senior students for hosting the outdoor activities. They did a fantastic job.
