Principal's Views

From Mandy O'Mara

Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends of Epping Views Primary School,

As the end of Term 1 comes to a close we can reflect on the many successes of the Term.

Last week we celebrated Harmony Day. Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity – a day of cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Held every year in March, Harmony Day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. It was wonderful to see students dressed in their national costumes or wearing orange to celebrate cultural diversity. It is worth noting that we are a strong multi-cultural community; 61% of our students speak English as an additional language. There are more than 50 languages spoken by staff, students and families. I hope you enjoy the photos in the gallery below.

Our online student management platform is an integral part of ensuring communication is of the highest standard at Epping Views Primary School. This is a portal for attendance, behaviour, email communication, payments and consent, and mid-semester, end of year and progress reporting.  I strongly encourage parents and carers to be familiar with Compass and ensure it is accessed on a regular basis. Please see links below for Compass User Guide and FAQ.

Next week we will be celebrating the long and distinguished careers of two wonderful teachers as they go off to live the life of retirees. Congratulations to: Sharon Taylor and Chris Shelton on a long and wonderful career as teachers. You have impacted the lives of many students over many decades.  As a school community I’m sure you will join me in thanking and congratulating these two outstanding teachers. They will both be missed at EVPS.

We will also say farewell to staff who are heading off on family leave. Congratulations and best wishes to; Kim Evangelou and Sahar Santello on the impending birth of their babies.

Please remember school finishes at 2:30 on Thursday 6th of April and resumes on Wednesday 26th April.

2024 Prep enrolments will be opened at the beginning of next term. If you have a child (or know a child) who will turn 5 before April 30 next year, please access our enrolment documents on our web page for further information.

School Tours will be hosted next term. Please refer to our web page for further information.

As we move off to enjoy an Easter break, I would like to specifically acknowledge and thank all the staff for their hard work and dedication to ensure your children are supported in a safe and engaging learning environment. We have a talented and committed staff at EVPS who I am extremely proud of.

To all those who celebrate Easter, I wish you all a Happy Easter and a safe and enjoyable break. I will be travelling to Texas over the break to welcome the birth of my second grand-child. I will be absent for the first week of Term 2. Rachel Griffiths, with the support of the Assistant Principals, will lead the school in my absence.

Happy holidays.
