In Grade 5, we have been looking at how computers communicate using binary code: 0s and 1s. The Grade 5s have converted decimal numbers into binary numbers, and vice versa, and have looked at how they can use binary code to create simple black-and-white pixel pictures. They have also looked at how computers use binary to represent letters, creating their own “binary bracelets” which have black and white beads to represent the 1s and 0s to spell out their name in binary code.
