Persuasive Writing in Grade 4/5 WR

Grade 4/5 Woodberry/Richardson students have been learning about Persuasive Writing this term. We have looked at beginning our persuasive writing with sizzling starts and have learnt that sizzling starts has three purposes:

  • To introduce the reader to the idea of the piece.
  • To provide context and let them know why the topic is important.
  • To capture the attention of the reader.

We have also been learning about persuasive devices. Persuasive devices such as rule of three, exaggeration, alliteration, personal anecdotes, rhetorical questions, and emotive language are used to: create a bond between the author and the reader or listener; reinforce and emphasise the author's viewpoint; and appeal to the emotions of the reader or listener.

Please enjoy some persuasive writing from Grade 4/5 WR.
