Kitchen Garden

IN THE KITCHEN

The SUMMER garden and Summer produce have continued to be the focus in the kitchen at the moment; Tomato and Apple have been the hero ingredients of the moment.

TOMATOES

APPLES

Such a simple but MOST delicious menu this week. Fettucini Pasta with a tomato 'napolitana' sauce and Apple Turnovers for dessert.

These menu items were gobbled up and there were barely any left-overs for the chickens.

We used eggs from the garden to make our pasta and then collected some basil to put on top too.

Our apple tree has the most abundant supply of apples that we have harvested... they're almost too good to cook! We have continued using the spiraliser to peel and core the apples. We cooked them and then made some beautiful Apple Turnovers.

We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Woolworths store at Karingal Hub for donating $50 towards our Kitchen each month. This money goes towards supporting our program and we are very appreciative of this!

Thankyou Woolworths!

Here are our weekly recipes;

Enjoy your weekend and we look forward to creating some Easter treats next week!

Garden News

We've seen the last of our summer produce in the garden and have had a big week of harvesting the last of our tomatoes, cucumbers, pototoes and marrows.

Well done to our 3 /4 s who topped up our veggie beds with soil and planted up bok choy, lettuce, carrots, silverbeet and beetroot.

Rollie our resident rabbit visited the garden this week and enjoyed lots of pats and green treats.

Thanks to our staff member Megan who donated a wonderful new seating area for our garden.  Its a great spot for our students to sit and have time with our chicken friends.

Happy Gardening.
