Student Attendance

It is important that all students are aware of the manner in which each subject teacher is taking the attendance roll for their class. Attendance could be taken through the means of a Google Meet or a Seqta Direct Message Forum and discussion or by completing a Google Form activity.  Each subject teacher will inform the class of the specific way that they are taking attendance. It is expected that each student will attend each class over the course of the day.

When reviewing attendance data we have noticed that over the course of the day a number of students seem to be making decisions about which classes they will attend and which classes they will not. This is unacceptable as students are to attend all classes.

We remind students at the senior level that you are required to reach a 90% attendance rate over the course of the semester to gain a Satisfactory completion for the unit.

Student Leadership Video

Our Lamp Bearers and Student Representative Council have been asked by the Catholic Education Office to participate in a video that will be produced about what leadership looks like at Marian College. The final video will incorporate Student Leaders across the Western region and focus on the work that they can do together to make a difference.

We look forward to presenting this video and our Student Leaders to the community through our social media platforms.

What better promotion of our school do we have than our student leaders. On top of focussing on their studies and completing assessment tasks for a range of subjects they were still able to complete this task with a minimum of fuss.

Student and Staff Wellbeing

In this time of isolation, wellbeing for our students and staff is a priority. With this in mind, we have created a remote wellbeing portal page that has a range of different resources for our students, staff and parents to access. Those who taken advantage of this page will find that it will support their need for physical activity, and proper and healthy eating the ability. You can complete activities such as meditation, mindfulness or yoga activities. Also you can investigate ways in which conditions such as anxiety can be supported through this most challenging time.

We also have our Counselling department available to support students if they require assistance throughout this time. The counsellors can be contacted directly or via a homeroom/mentor teacher.

The key at this time is to know that it is okay to ask for help. It is of greater concern if we do not ask for help when we need to.
