St Joseph's 2020 Gala Day Preferences - Years 3-6

This year your child/children will have the opportunity to participate in one or more Sporting Gala Days depending on availability. The aim of these Gala Days is to encourage participation in a fun and enjoyable atmosphere.

To ensure your child has the opportunity to participate in their preferred Gala Day we are asking that they nominate their preferred Gala Days by completing the preferences via the COMPASS Parent Portal under the "INSIGHTS" tab. To access this tab, please "OPEN IN BROWSER" and answer the questions listed.

It is hoped that all children have the opportunity to participate in at least one Gala Day. Please do not nominate for Gala Days unless you know your child will be present on the day. Teams will be formed from the nominations so once a student is selected for a Gala Day it is an expectation that they will attend.

If your child is selected to participate in a Gala Day, this event will be sent out via the COMPASS Parent Portal in the weeks leading up to the event outlining relevant information,

Please note that the cost of Gala Day attendance is in addition to the ‘Activities’ fee on your 2020 School fee statement.

Please complete the Gala Day preferences by Friday 13 March 2020.

SJB Cross Country 2020

Our SJB Cross Country will be held on Friday March 20 at Bulli Park.

Please see Compass Events for all information regarding the carnival. Course maps are located in the Resource tab. We are calling on parent volunteers to assist on the day. If you are able to act as an official please volunteer in the Questions tab within the Compass event.

Please note that a Coffee van has been organised to attend and our school canteen will be operating to allow students and parents the opportunity to purchase some snacks.

Thank you for your ongoing support and to parents who have accepted the invitation to assist with set up and carnival organisation - it is because of your generosity that our wonderful school culture and sense of community spirit is maintained here are St Joey's.

We are looking forward to a great day!

This program started in Week 5.  It will be running for 5 weeks (Weeks 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10) on a Friday. Students will be participating in a five week AFL program aimed at introducing students to some of the core skills of AFL through fun, engaging and modified games and activities that are aligned with curriculum outcomes.

This program will be delivered by AFLNSW Development officers with the support of classroom teachers. Through movement experiences students also develop self-management and interpersonal skills to support them to strive for enhanced performance and participation in a lifetime of physical activity so we are looking forward to this incursion!
