Writing with a sizzling start

To make our writing more engaging we looked at sizzling starts, which means starting a story with a sound, dialogue or action. To introduce the concept, students had a language experience opportunity, where they used their senses to describe and retell their experience with a grapefruit. The best part of the language experience was, obviously, the eating part. Some students loved the taste of the grapefruit, some found it disgusting. They then had a go at starting their retelling with a sizzling start. 

Math Games 

We are revising and consolidating our knowledge on addition and subtraction through various number games, such as Snaps, Strike it Out, Total Recall. The students have enjoyed these activities a lot!
