Last Sunday's Gospel scripture passage was about Jesus' powerful messages in the Parable of the Sower.
I would like to invite you to reflect on this story and its meaning for all of our lives.
The Parable of the Sower A reflection from Rina Wintour's Just Imagine 2 | |
---|---|
Once there was a man who went out to sow grain. | A man or a woman or even a child goes out to proclaim the Word of God. |
As the seed was scattered, some of it fell on the path, where it was stepped on and eaten by the birds. | Sometimes the Word of God falls on deaf ears. No one listens, no one understands. |
Some seeds fell on rocky ground and when the plants sprouted, they dried up because the soil had no moisture. | Some listen and believe, but when the going gets tough, their faith falters and fails. |
Some seeds fell among the thorn bushes which grew up with the plants and choked them. | Some listen to the Word of God for a while but are not prepared to pray, study and reflect. When evil tempts them to question, they find they can no longer believe or trust. |
And some seeds fell into good soil, the plants grew and bore grain, a hundred grains each. | Some listen, hear and follow the Word of God. It finds a home deep in their hearts and they cherish it as a treasure. Their faith is evident in their commitment to promoting and enhancing the reign of God in their everyday actions, attitudes and orientations. |
May you find your calling as you listen to the Word in order to follow Jesus' way.
Kind regards
Liana Stella
