Prayer

For Catholic Schools

Almighty God,

You sent forth your Son as a beacon of hope for all people.

As a Teacher, He has given us the prime example of the importance of education. As disciples, we look to him for inspiration and strength.

Thank you for the many people who have dedicated their lives in service to our Catholic Schools.

Thank you for the teachers and administrators who sustain our schools.

Thank you for the parents who have given support and witness to the importance of Catholic education.

Thank you for the students who work hard to further their education. Bless all our Catholic Schools and the many people who advance our mission.

May our schools be a home for those who seek to grow in openness, faith, love, intellect and commitment to justice.

In your name, we pray. Amen.

Religious Education

This term we welcome Mr Michael Goss from the CEDWW office to support our RE team two days a week. He has a wealth of experience having been an RE Coordinator and also a Leader of Faith and Mission in the Ballarat Diocese. Michael will be supporting us during this term due to Mr Chris Browne being on leave and other staff having to take on various responsibilities.

NAIDOC Assembly & liturgy

Our students participated in a NAIDOC assembly and liturgy at the start of the term to mark NAIDOC. The theme this year was “For our Elders.” The liturgy was led by students and we were lucky to have Aunty Mary come along and speak to the students and read her story from the book “Growing up Wiradjuri.” The assembly/liturgy also had a great video featuring staff and students talking about what their elders mean to them.

 Vinnies Fund Raising Sleepout

We have recently had our Vinnies Sleepout to raise funds for the Vinnies Winter Appeal. A special thanks to the students and staff who participated in this event. Also thanks to those who have provided sponsorship for the participants. Luckily the night wasn’t as cold as expected and all who participated in the event enjoyed the evening. Next year this will be opened up to students in all year levels. This was the first time in more than 10 years that we have had the Vinnies Sleep Out here at Kildare College.

This term we have begun our sacramental preparation programme (RCIA) for students wanting to be baptised and receive their First Holy Communion. If your child has been baptised but not completed their First Holy Communion they can also join this programme. It will run weekly on a Wednesday morning during coaching time and uses a programme called Evangelium. Students can join the programme at any stage and towards the end of the programme will be asked alongside their parents to make a decision as to whether they want to receive the sacraments. If you have any questions  please do not hesitate to contact either Mr Chaston or Mr Udy.
