Wantirna College VCE Music students showcased their talent and hard work at the recent Unit 1 & 3 Recitals held on Wed 7 & Thu 8 June. The two nights were filled with outstanding performances that demonstrated the students' progress towards Outcome 1: Performance.
On Wednesday, Caden Chan, Jeremy Coath, Chrystin Gosios, Elijah Haynes, Ryan Holloway, Adam Mahrif, Orion Rigano, Fletcher Sims, and Nathan Vibal took the stage. Thursday night featured the remarkable talents of Charlotte Antonopoulos, William Davis, Robert Dean, Seth Howie, Jett Hughes, Elijah Keam, Tameka Lewis, Caitlin Murphy, Mackenzie Ross, Lex Shaw, Kai Simcocks, Luis Suarez, and Troy Wordie.
The performances encompassed a diverse range of instruments and styles, including contemporary band arrangements and impressive solos on voice, cello, piano, guitar, bass guitar, drums, trumpet and cornet, flute, saxophone, tuba, and even the cowbell!
Accompanied Belinda Glass and I, the students delivered captivating performances that showcased their musical abilities.
While talent is certainly a factor, it's important to recognize the dedication and perseverance these students exhibit throughout the year. They work tirelessly to hone their performance skills, manage performance nerves, and develop an engaging stage presence. It's an arduous process, but one that ultimately pays off in their ability to deliver exceptional performances.
This recital marked a significant milestone for the Unit 1 students, as it was their first-ever VCE recital. Congratulations to them for a successful debut. For the Unit 3 students, this recital signified their final school-based VCE recital. We commend them for their growth and achievements throughout their musical journey, and we look forward to witnessing the continued success of these talented musicians as they apply the invaluable lessons learned from this experience. Well done!

We're excited to invite all our Instrumental Music Students from Years 7-12, to the 2023 Music Camp from Wed 16 to Fri 18 August!
All Ensembles and Choirs will attend one camp together at 'CYC The Island’ in Cowes, Phillip Island. Music Camp provides an opportunity for all students within our ensembles to participate in intense rehearsals, workshops, team building exercises and performances where they will further develop their skills in musicianship, teamwork, and leadership.
Though running costs for camps have significantly increased, Music Camp remains a highly subsidised event to ensure that all students can participate. This year, the cost for this event is $350 per student. A reminder that full payment is strictly due by 28 July - as we need to confirm numbers and dietary requirements with the venue.
Our Production cast and crew have been working very hard over this term at rehearsals and Production Camp to develop this year's amazing show! Stay tuned for the start of Term 3 when tickets to Disney's The Little Mermaid will be released.
