Year 9 Thank You Morning Tea

By Sarah Kelly

This term The Year 9's have been completing a unit on Community Service. The students have been visiting various organisations over 6 weeks to help out in any way they could. Some of these organisations included nursing homes, a hospice, childcare centres, community houses, an op-shop and working with groups with a disability.

It has been a wonderful experience for the students; sometimes challenging but mostly rewarding as they learnt to serve and put others first, whilst contribute to the community they are a part of.

On Thursday we invited representatives from the organisations to visit BHCS for a 'Thank You Morning Tea'. We wanted to say thanks to them for opening their doors to our students, and helping them feel welcome. Some of our students shared their highlights from the visits, and it was great hearing the visitors speak so positively of our students. One lady reflected that "if the next generation are anything like the students that visited us, we are in very good hands!"
