From the Principal Team

Our Japanese Sister School

We are so delighted to announce our partnership Minowa Elementary School in Yokohama. This is a wonderful opportunity for students, and indeed for all of us, at both schools to engage in a rewarding cultural exchange. Thank you to Beth Wilson and Angie Gall for establishing this, with support from Grace Hills and Jenny Fildes

Yesterday our students from 6H spoke to the Year 6 class from Minowa and shared their じこしょうかいjikoushokai (self introduction). We viewed presentations from the Japanese students on the different learning spaces and facilities of their school.

We shared photos of our outdoor environment, playgrounds, classrooms and facilities. Our students performed a song from the upcoming musical. The Japanese students and teachers were very impressed with the outdoor spaces and large trees at BPS!

We are working with Minowa to set up the next video call and our aim is to provide opportunities for all Year 6 students to communicate in written and oral form in both Japanese and English, and to continue to grow this partnership. Exciting times ahead as we continue to grow this partnership!

Term 3 Canteen and Coffee Cart!

We are looking forward to introducing lunches from Classroom Cuisine on Wednesday and Fridays beginning in the first week of Term 3. Hopefully you have had time to look at their menu and website. Maybe you have even placed an order?  We have had quite positive feedback since we announced this arrangement and we will continue to review.

Just as exciting is the news that for next term we will have a coffee van onsite for you each Wednesday morning from 8.30am to 9.30am. (Note: This will commence in Week 2.) We do appreciate Sandie Kringle of Lady Marmalade's Coffee Van for reaching out with this opportunity. It will be a lovely chance for our parents to share a chat and a cuppa as the day begins.

Term 3 Calendar and Curriculum Days

This newsletter includes a Term 3 Calendar with major events scheduled throughout the the term. We are endeavouring to plan well in advance to keep your informed. There may be some additions along the way, but we will strive to adhere to set dates.

In the calendar you will note two Curriculum Days next term (Monday 31st July and Friday 1st September). These are School Council approved student-free days designated to provide meaningful time for us to work through our school priorities and advance our approached to teaching and learning.

Also noted in the calendar are some events for parents to be directly connected to school initiatives, including classroom visits and a consultation evening. We will provide more detailed information regarding these in the first weeks of the term.

Happy Holidays.

Term 2 has been a shorter one but nonetheless full of wonderful opportunities for our students. We thank our teachers and Education Support staff for ensuring Beaumaris Primary is a vibrant and happy school where learning is a joy. We thank our parents and carers for embracing the partnership with us in your child's learning.

We thank our students for their positive spirit and inspiring us each day.

We hope the break goes well for your families. Keep warm and cosy if you are not travelling to somewhere warmer. We look forward to being together again in Term 3.
