Welcome 2021

Great to be Back

Welcome everyone to a new year and the start of a new learning journey. We would firstly like to warmly welcome our new Foundation families to Newlands. This year sees our Foundation cohort at 75 plus students! This is such an exciting development for us, it emphatically says our community is with us and can see more than just buildings, they learning opportunities that align broadly with their expectations of learning. For our returnees to the classroom we can only hope that the stresses and strains of Covid 2020 are behind us, and we can take many of the learning positives from 2020 and adapt them into our learning journey in 2021.

Generator on the Green

You maybe asking why there is a generator parked under the gum tree in the school grounds. Simply during the last week of the holidays there was a power surge on a power pole in Elizabeth Street. This in turn sent a surge into the switchboard, and basically melting the wires. We expect to have the generator on site for at least four weeks running our whole school, including air-conditioners.

Covid - 19

We are currently advising parents that DET hasn't changed any of the daily local school protocols from 2020.

  • When parents need to be at school for more than 15 minutes, you must register through the QR code at the office.
  • Wearing a mask and social distancing is still expected at school.
  • Parents cannot enter the classrooms for any reason, unless prior arrangements have been made with staff involved.
  • Further information and compliance will be rolled over the coming weeks.
