Library News

A big thank you to all the students and families who have returned overdue library books over the last few weeks.

We really appreciate your support in maintaining the library resources for students.

Summer reading

Don’t forget to get some summer reading organised before the end of the term.

 You can:

  • Borrow from the library - loans are now due at the start of Term 1 next year
  • Use the e-platform to borrow ebooks and audiobooks. Books can be downloaded to your phone or device - perfect if you are going away.  See our guide, or see us in the library for help setting it up.
  • Take home an ex-library book - a selection of books are currently available at the library entrance for re-homing.

Come and see us if you would like help with suggestions for what to read - or take a look at our Holiday Reading Guide.

Reorganising the collection

We are lucky to have a varied collection in the library, including fiction, non-fiction, biographies and graphic fiction.  But one thing we often hear from students (and staff!) is how difficult it can be to know what to look for when browsing the shelves.  This year we have been working on re-organising the collection into smaller sections which we think will help with browsing for that next book. We have made a start on labelling and moving the fiction books – replacing the A-Z author sequence with genres. It’s a big task, and the shelves do look chaotic at the moment, but we plan to have it finished for when students return next year.

Library volunteers

Students can sign up to help out in the library during breaks or after school.  We really appreciate their help, and it’s a chance for them to be involved and get some useful experience.  Although we haven’t been able to run the program for a lot of this year, a number of students have helped us out, especially at the start and end of the year.  Our thanks to Eleanor Wisbey, Jack Carter, Natasha Wills, Sarah Burston, Scarlett Roddy, Maggie Fu, Bianca Stella, Thomas Dorrofield and Ava Sheldon-Collins.
