Year 11 News
Dear Parents of Year 11 Students (who studied a Year 11 Subject, which includes some Year 10 students),
On Monday 14th December and Tuesday 15th December, we will be running Student/ Parent/Teacher Conferences for Year 11 students to allow for some additional communication opportunities as Year 11 students make the transition to Year 12, post the interruptions of COVID 19.
This will provide an opportunity for students to give and receive feedback on their learning, identify gaps and set goals for 2021.
Staff will be available for conferences between 9am and 4pm on the Monday December 14th and Tuesday 15th. Conferences will be 10 minutes in duration.
All conferences can be booked on Compass and the meetings will occur on Microsoft Teams.
A link for a Microsoft Teams conference for each staff member will be sent in an email and you simply need to use this link to enter your appointment.
You can use this link to sign into the conference on any device.
We trust that this additional layer of communication will assist in allowing Year 11 students to optimise their important transition in Year 12 for 2021.
A list of teachers and a link to conference with that particular teacher, will be emailed, out closer to the conference days.
* If you would like to request an interpreter please contact the Year 11 Level Leader, Kimberlee Olsen on kimberlee.olsen@education.vic.gov.au as soon as possible so that we can put arrangements in place for this.*
*For parents who want to do separate conferences you can simply make separate appointments on Compass with your unique log in and password and sign in using the MS Teams link at that time.
*In 2021 there will be two Heads of Senior School: Ms Ruth Perkins (Stella and Terra) and Ms Renea Betts (Ignis and Hydra).
If you have general concerns, questions or information that you would like to discuss we encourage you to make an appointment with the relevant Head of Senior School that align's with your child's house.*
Bookings will be available to parents via Compass from
9am on Monday 7th December.
Year 12 Valedictory Picnic
Last Thursday afternoon we celebrated the Class of 2020 with a Valedictory Picnic on the oval. It was wonderful to see so many of our students celebrating and enjoying themselves. We celebrated all of our student’s successes which were achieved in spite of the tough year.
The students received many well wishes and there were a few tears (happy) shed during the afternoon. All of the students were presented with their graduation certificate, and we also acknowledged the extra efforts of some students;
Special award winners:
Ethos Award - Imogene Hetherington
Friends of Music – Edmond Kennedy and Alex Tyzack
Art and Technology Award – Jordan Rosman (Media) and Madeleine Crowe (Studio Art) Long Tan Award (Leadership) - Chelsea Del Romano
Caltex Award for best all round achiever - Bonnie Osborn
Valedictorian – Chelsea Del Romano
David Jensz Award - Lilly Brasch and Larissa Jones
Many thanks to all the contributors, including; Wired4Sound, Taco Truck, Ben Mogford, and Fleur Lidyard.
This event would not have been possible without the support of Ms Sharon Grimes, Mr John Munro and Ms Sue Calder.
There was a massive input from the Music Department, especially Andrew Van Gemert. Ben Ponte has asked that I do not mention his input.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Hannah Do and Sarah Dashwood for the enormous amount of work which they put into making this event such a massive success and such a special moment for our Class of 2020.
Throughout the year Hannah and Sarah both went above and beyond their role to ensure the health and safety of all of our students and for that I am truly thankful.
No one will ever forget the year 2020.
Likewise, they will never forget the Class of 2020, whose persistence and dedication is an example to how we should all live our lives.
Kind regards stay safe,
Dean Bettiol
