2021: ASC at Butler St

Getting to school

Details about pedestrian access, bus schedules and parking arrangements at the new ASC Butler Street site can be found on our ASC Facebook page and the ASC Website.

Permaculture garden

ASC is the recipient of one of the first Sustainable Schools Grants. The grant of $15,000 is going towards the establishment of a permaculture garden.

A design and planning meeting held in October with a local permaculture specialist and ASC Staff.

Thanks to the hard work of Rob Gasparre (ASC General Assistant) the garden is taking shape.

Circular plantings of crops that will be ready for harvest in Term 1 2021 is well underway.

The garden will be surrounded by a chook moat, which is being constructed by our relieving Agricultural Technology teacher Tony Barnett with the help of students from Year 8 and 10.

BYOD Policy

BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) is an ASC policy to enhance the digital capacity in students so that they are ready for the future workplace. In 2021 we are looking forward to many exciting changes when we move to the new Butler Street site with up-to-date learning spaces  and access to new technologies.

We believe that students having their own device will make learning deeper, more personalised and student-centred. Therefore, next year we will be encouraging students to become self-reliant and prepared to use technology in more engaging and relevant ways. For these reasons, we will be launching our BYOD program in full to Years 7, 11 and 12; however students in Years 8, 9 and 10 are also welcome to BYOD after signing the student agreement.

Our 2021 BYOD structure has two tiers to ensure all students have access to technology to assist with their learning:

  • Tier 1: Outright Purchase: students purchase and bring their own laptop to school to assist with learning.
  • Tier 2: School-Loaned Device - students are digitally allocated a school-owned laptop for a small cost to use at home and at school. For Years 11 and 12 the device must be returned to school each term to comply with audit requirements; while Year 7 students can apply to borrow a school-owned device on a daily basis.

Please visit the ASC website for further details on ASC's BYOD policy and to download documents for signing.
