Year 11 French: potager garden

Following the tradition of the kitchen garden or “potager”, Year 11 French Beginners planted a small plot and explored some gardening tutorials in French.

We planted parsley, lettuce, carrots, shallots, sorrel, celery and beans. The garden grew well and we made a delicious green salad with a homemade french dressing as well as a parsley sauce to accompany our crumbed fish.

Japanese news - nihongo no nyuuzu - 日本語のニューズ

Wow! What a great year we have had in Japanese this year! We had students studying in all years from 8-12 with four Year 8 classes, 30 students completing Year 10 (of which 16 are continuing into senior Japanese next year), and four students completing Japanese for the HSC!

At ASC we value the study of languages and have many students doing various languages via distance education as well as in our classes of German, French and Japanese. Benefits of learning another language include:

  • boosts brain power,
  • improves memory,
  • enhances the ability to multi-task,
  • sharpens the mind,
  • keeps the mind sharper for longer,
  • enhances decision-making,
  • the first language is improved, and
  • improves performance in other academic areas.

Over the last few weeks we have been making sushi and having video conferences with Japan! Check out the photos to see how happy the students are in the languages classroom!

We hope more of you can join us next year to “boost your brain power”!

Happy Holidays! “Merii kurisumasu” - メリークリスマス
