MINI VINNIES - ST VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY
While our Mini Vinnies Team, as part of the Greythorn Conference of St Vincent de Paul Society, were unable to be as active as normal due to COVID, they still managed to support a couple of great initiatives during Term 4.
Earlier in the Term, the Mini Vinnies Team worked to support a refugee family in need in partnership with the St Bridget's Refugee Action Group. When this family first arrived in Melbourne they were supported by the St Bridget's Refugee Action Group who assisted them in establishing them in a house in a nearby suburb. Recently the father of the family was diagnosed with an illness and has been unable to work while he underwent treatment. Our Mini Vinnies Team were instrumental in the collection of food donations to support this family during this time.
Also, each year our Mini Vinnies Team work in partnership with the Greythorn Conference of St Vincent de Paul Society to collect donations for the Christmas Appeal. These donations are made into hampers for families in need in surrounding suburbs.
This year due to COVID, St Vincent de Paul Society decided to provide vouchers for these families instead hampers but did asked our school community if we could provided Christmas gifts for the children of these families.
It is through these actions that help our students make meaningful connections between our faith and their everyday lives by helping those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Thank you to all the members of our Mini Vinnies Team for their hard work and to our parent community for your generosity.
Thank you also to Lachie & Tom Worsnop (Parishioners and previous St Bridget's students), who assisted in the script, direction and filming of the Nativity for the coming Christmas Masses.
