TERM 4

Where has this year gone?? 2020 complete and what a year it has been but I am so thankful that we were still able to achieve so much in PE. While it didn’t look like we hoped it would, I hope the students felt they were able to learn and develop their skills and even learn some new sports over the past 12 months.

This term was about refining the skills we have learnt but also developing some new skills and learning a new sport.  We also focused on working together as teams, following rules, sportsmanship, resilience, and kindness but most importantly to have FUN!

This term we:

  • developed our handball and punting skills and learnt some different games we can play instead of traditional AFL games.
  • learned scoop ball and striking with a bat for the preps and JLC
  • completed the Quick Stix Lacrosse program for our MLC and SLC students and we had so much fun.  It was so great to see students getting into the competitive nature of the sport
  • all students finished off the last two weeks with a number of different competitive and non-competitive games we haven’t had the opportunity to play this year (It was based on student voice and it was great to see the games they have enjoyed).
    • Prep/JLC - Christmas games that involved bean bags, hoops, tennis balls, lots of throwing and catching and refining the skills we learnt this year.
    • MLC - lots of tag games and soccer and dodgeball games, the things they missed most this year.
    • SLC - golden child (basketball based), rock paper scissors races, and Moneyball (dodgeball) - I even got amongst it with them and had lots of fun.

It is with great sadness that I move on from St Bridget’s Primary School at the conclusion of the school year.  I have really enjoyed my time over the past 18 months in particular.  I was fortunate enough to start off as a pre-service teacher in 2018 with Mrs Maher for 5 weeks with the Year 3’s (who are now about to head into Year 6!) and had so much fun that I had to teach here.  I am so grateful to Robyn and the staff for welcoming me into the school, trusting in me, and helping me further develop my teaching over the past 18 months.  I also thank the students for participating in everything that was thrown at them, always with a smile and not too much resistance :). Thank you also to the community, for welcoming me with open arms, saying hello, chatting at the gates, and giving me the opportunity to teach your beautiful children!

I leave with great friends, an abundance of teaching experience, and special memories.

I wish you all a happy and safe Christmas and holiday break.  Enjoy the much-deserved downtime and be ready for what should be a fantastic 2021.

Stay safe, stay active
