ROBOTS KEEP WORKING DURING LOCKDOWN

The lockdown period is causing challenges for all of us but McKinnon is determined to ensure that our learning continues during this unusual period. To help achieve this aim, our school has decided to lend out a full robotics kit to each of the students enrolled in robotics in Semester 2.

Our new robotics class will be able to complete all of the set exercises and investigate the behaviour, control and programming of their robot at home. This is one case where remote learning does not need to be a restriction. Our students will be able to program their robots to follow a line, make decisions based on their surroundings and eventually solve a maze without leaving home. Having the robot at home gives the students the opportunity to investigate the robotics at their own pace and to any level of curiosity so the opportunity is there for some students to go much further if they choose to. Through all of this, their teacher will be available online and students can upload programs and video of their robots at work.

We hope to show some photos and videos of our robotic creations in future newsletters.
