Student Wellbeing

As I prepare for the return of all students back to school I have found myself reflecting on the past few months and in doing so, feeling a mixed range of emotions including excited, hopeful and grateful, but that’s just me. I would expect many others would list different emotions that are reflective of their experience and understand that there are no right or wrong answers to this question.

I’m sure you have heard about being thankful, mindfulness, developing gratitude and of course random acts of kindness. These ideas aren’t just for special occasions but should be celebrated and worked on every day of the year. The reopening of schools is certainly an occasion for all of us to reflect on what we are grateful during Term 2.

Whether it’s finding a sense of peace, being in the moment, or getting un-busy enough to enjoy the simple joys of life is what this gratitude list is about. Spend a few minutes thinking about each thing every day with your children or get them to make their own list.

These types of activities can improve your health, take away anxiety, and give you a more peaceful life. Plus your smile will rub off on others, making them happy too.

GRATITUDE LIST

  1. Something that makes you happy
  2. Something you can give to someone to make them smile
  3. One thing that you love to smell
  4. One thing that you enjoy to look at
  5. Something that is your favorite colour
  6. Something that you are thankful for in nature
  7. Something that you can  use to make a gift for someone
  8. Something that is useful for you

You can make your own list or help your child make theirs.

Take care, stay safe and see you all at school next Tuesday. I can’t wait!
