School Assemblies

It has been great to share some wonderful student peformances and projects this term via our Friday morning video assemblies. Parents, staff and students have loved the connections these have provided in these socially distanced times.

Sadly, even though students will be back at school from next week, our assemblies will stay online for the time being to avoid large gatherings of children - a key Health Department recommendation.

We would love to receive any short videos of your child playing a musical instrument or sharing something they have been working on in lockdown.

Feel free to send through any videos, photos (or links to google drive, dropbox, etc) to neil.scott@education.vic.gov.au by 4pm each Thursday for inclusion.

2021 Enrolments

A huge thank you to those parents who have returned enrolment forms for younger siblings starting at SKiPPS in 2021.

Getting an idea of likely student numbers now makes our forward planning much easier and allows us to make good decisions and manintain ideal class sizes.

If you do have a four or five year old child who will be starting school in 2021, we ask that you complete their enrolmentforms and return these to the office as soon as possible.

This form can be downloaded from;

http://www.skipps.vic.edu.au/assets/uploads/2019/05/Student_Enrolment_Form.pdf and emailed or dropped off to the school office.

School social events

At our SKiPPS fundraising sub-committee meeting this week, we explored ways that we could continue to offer some school-organised events in the coming months to bring our community together and raise money for classroom libraries - our major fundraising goal for this year.

Clearly, since the success of our fete in February, COVID-19 has kept us apart but we have a few exciting events on the horizon. Put them into the diary now, cross your fingers that the curve stays flattened and look out for further details;

  • SKiPPS online Trivia - Thursday 25th June (to be confirmed). We hope to bring families together via Zoom to say goodbye and good riddance to term 2 with a family trivia event. More details to follow in the next week.
  • SKiPPS Walkathon - Thursday 17th September. All being well, our annual Walkathon will proceed as normal on the school oval. As in 2019, we hope to finish with a sausage sizzle and cake sale on the school grounds.
  • SKiPPS Gala night - Saturday 28th November. Our annual big bash for parents at the St Kilda Town Hall is pencilled in for late-November and will feature live music, food, drinks and entertainment.

School Photos

Sadly our scheduled School photo date in March fell victim to the COVID-19 school closures and so we will head into the second half of the school year with no individual or class school photos!

Happily, we have rescheuled our photos for week 2 of next term on Thursday 23rd July. MSP photography will be on-site practicisng appropriate hygiene and social distancing to take an individual photo of each child and a group photo of each class.

If you received your MSP ordering pack in term 1, please hold on to this and further details will be provided after the winter break.

School Swimming Program

We had scheduled that our whole-school swimming program would be taking place during weeks 1 and 2 of next term. However, even with recent loosening of regulations that allow pools to open, it is not possible for our program to proceed at this time.

We will stay across the Government guidance and in communication with MSAC to explore whether we may be able to rescudule the program for later in the school year.
