Prayer for Our Mothers

A Prayer in Gratitude for Our Mothers on Mother’s Day

Gracious and eternal God,

we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the significant women in our lives

who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth and nurturing us in our lives.

You who became human through a woman,

grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future

that life with children always brings.

Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return,

not perfectly, but humanly.

Give them the faithful support of family, friends and community

as they care for the physical, spiritual and emotional growth of their children.

Give them joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of motherhood.

Most of all, give them the wisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Live Jesus in our Hearts – Forever!

I hope that all our Mums enjoyed a special day last Sunday and were suitably spoiled.  We want to again say how much we appreciate our mothers and show them we love them.

The Year 12 students compiled a beautiful assembly and many mothers joined their son for the Assembly.  Below is the link to the Youtube Assembly and I hope you all enjoy the students' expression of love for their Mum.

Great to have the Students Coming to School

We were delighted to welcome the boys back this week and they thoroughly enjoyed their face to face classes and the opportunity to spend time with their friends.  The attendance rates in each Year group ranged from between 95-98% attendance at school and our overall attendance at school each day was 35% of the student body each day. This will gradually increase as we grow the progressive return to school.

In week 4 students will return as follows:

Hygiene at St Pius X College

Throughout the College we are continually emphasising good hygiene and I am very pleased to report that the boys have been terrific in cooperating with these practices. The extra emphasis on cleaning and on sanitising has made an impact. I was amused on Monday when I was putting hand sanitiser on the boys hands as they left the school on Monday afternoon and I asked “How many times did you use hand sanitiser today?” One boy answered “About a million!”

We continue to observe good personal distance but as you would be aware, the 1.5m social distancing rule does not apply to schools. We are ensuring the boys are keeping a good personal space in classrooms and the playground.

Interestingly, the station and the bus interchange have been quiet and the public transport has been continually sanitised. We have been at the station after school regularly and the numbers aren’t a problem and the facilities have been kept in good order and regularly wiped down with cleaning materials and sanitiser.

P & F Meeting

We had a very successful P & F Meeting on TEAMS last Monday evening. It ran for just under an hour and I thank our president Mrs Braelen Zwart and all those who joined the meeting.

In particular I thank the P & F for their vote of appreciation to the College staff with a special note to all the teachers, the Maintenance Team and especially the ICT Help desk for their continued dedication to keeping our online learning running so smoothly.

Below is the YouTube video recording of the meeting.
