Mooresville
Dear Families,
Wow... it's the last newsletter of Semester One. It feels like this term has gone on forever and I have very mixed feelings.
A couple of things in the pipeline:
- Time Capsule - our school is creating a time capsule to keep a memory of working through 2020. We hope that when your grandchildren or even great grandchildren come to RHPS, your reflections of #livinginhistory will be interesting to them. Let us know some of YOUR favourite zooms, lessons, FB posts, activities, etc. Send them via email to Mary or drop up to the school office.
We are collecting the following items:- zoom screenshots
- Lego photos for our RHPS Lego Masters book
- student items [drawings, photos, letters, writing pieces] that reflect remote learning
- FB posts
- Lessons, grid time, Tribes activities, specialist activities etc
- DET info and school communications.
- parent reflections - please send to Mary with your contribution. Thanks.
- staff reflections - we have used a Pluses, Challenges, Interesting thoughts format.
- Respectful Relationships - all staff will be trained in this Department initiative by the end of term. This fits really well with our Tribes Agreements and will enable us to build on what we do to ensure that individual students' needs are being met.
- Freeform Martial Arts - we are excited to be working with Freeform next term for our Grade 5-6 students as a program for building self-worth, self-discipline and healthy self-image. Thanks to School Focussed Youth Services for supporting our school with the funding for this program. Watch this space.
- ILPs and SSGs - that stands for Individual Learning Plans and Student Support Groups. SSGs for specific students will be held in Term 3. Dates will go home soon. Semester One ILPs will be reviewed in Term 3 as there was some global issue that got in the way of Term 2 : - )
- Learning Support - our Learning Support educator, Helen Plunkett, is back on track with reading and maths support. The LLI [reading] program is full at the moment. There MAY be some spots for the Maths Club which is run before school for Gr 3 - Gr 6 students on different mornings. Thanks Helen
- Growth Minset - we continue to work on our growth mindset across learning areas, social skills and emotional resilience. Check out what our Chaplain has written for this newsletter.
- Super Siblings - We are hosting Super Siblings next week. This is a support group for students who have siblings with additional needs, health issues or disabilities.
Thanks to all families for your continued support of RHPS. I think we're an awesome community and it sure does take a team working together. Enjoy the "holidays" - no remote learning plans or school prepation or setting up home study areas. Sounds great to me!
See you at the school gate,
Cheers,
Mary
