Resilience Project - Year 5

Year 5 Resilience Project

On Tuesday 21 July the Year 5 students participated in a Resilience Project activity that focused on Positive vs Negative Thinking during their remote learning session. The teachers and students discussed phrases such as ‘Look on the bright side’ ‘The glass is half full’ and what they mean.

The class then watched a video together that provided some further examples. Students were asked to draw a picture of a situation that they had previously been in that caused some negative thoughts or feelings. Students were then asked to list 4 negative thoughts that arose from the situation. They were then asked to find 4 positive thoughts that they could have instead focused on.

Bridie E (5C), chose the second round of lock down as her situation.

The positives that Bridie chose to focus on were:

  1. We have a government that cares about us
  2. We can spend more time with our families
  3. We have more opportunities to exercise
  4. Communities are coming together that are physically apart.

Well done Bridie!
