Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart School Community

Thank you to all parents and guardians who have been cooperating diligently with one of our protocols during this time of COVID 19 awareness, by keeping their children at home when they are not feeling well. We know that our community needs to adhere to the advice from the health professionals to reduce the chances of a "second wave" of the virus, and we thank all parents and guardians for doing their part to keep our school community safe.

As you would all be aware, our premier is continuing to reduce restrictions as the COVID 19 infection rate drops in Victoria. At this stage the reduction of restrictions has not had any implications for schools. In the event of any changes being implemented before Term Three starts, I will notify you immediately. Until further notice we will continue to stagger our dismissal times, and ask that parents/guardians not enter the school grounds and building unless on school related business. The normal practice of getting together as a school and meeting across grade levels is also on hold. Our cleaners have been contracted to complete the extra hours of cleaning up until the end of the term.

Feast of the Sacred Heart

Tomorrow we celebrate the feast day of our school and parish. Normally we would be attending Mass as a school and have a number of celebratory activities organised throughout the day. Unfortunately, due to the circumstances beyond our control, we will need to curtail the normal festivities.

On the Feast of the Sacred Heart, we remember and celebrate Jesus' infinite love for us all. As a member of the school community, I am reminded of this in the actions and interactions of our students, parents and staff on an everyday basis. When I witness the care of our students towards each other, the passion of our teachers to ensure our students wellbeing is cared for and the love of our parents and guardians for their children, I am reminded of Jesus love for us all.

As part of the celebration of the Feast of the Sacred Heart and as detailed in Jenny's section of the newsletter, we will start collecting non perishable food items and warm clothing next week for people within our community who are in need.

Important Correspondence

Please be aware of two important pieces of correspondence that have gone home this week. Firstly, an important notice went out yesterday to all families explaining how reports will be received by parents next term through the Parent Portal. Please ensure you have read this notice. If you have any concerns - please contact Belinda via email

bcheong@shpreston.catholic.edu.au

The second piece of correspondence would have been received by parents and guardians of students in Years Prep, Three/Four and Five/Six from Denise. It concerns your feedback on our school's direction in purchasing ICT hardware. After our period of "distance education", we realise all parents and guardians will have a renewed insight into the technology issues we have to plan for, in particular purchasing devices that best meet our student's needs and if possible, complementing those devices at home.

Last day of Term Three

Please be aware that next Friday 26th June is the last day of Term Two. Students will be dismissed at 1.00 pm. Extend will be offering after school services from this time. Term Three begins on Monday 13th July.

Hot Cross Bun Money Orders

Due to the unusual end to last term caused by the COVID 19 virus, parents and guardians who ordered hot cross buns were not able to receive these items. Tomorrow Jodi and I will commence reimbursing the money to all families who ordered the hot cross buns. All reimbursements should be made by early next week. Please watch your child's bag if you are expecting a reimbursement.

Please stay safe everyone

Yours sincerely
