Welcome to Term 3

As we tick over the mid-year mark, students in Years 7-11 are well on the way to locking in course and subject plans for 2022.  Year 12s will start applications and bedding down their plans for next year from early August.  I will be presenting to all Year 12s on 3 August to go through the VTAC process of applying for 2022 courses.  Year 12 students and families should closely monitor information in Connect, the weekly Career News on MyNorthcoteHigh and the newsletter.

Adjusting to lockdown 5.0 is yet another challenge thrown at us by the pandemic wreaking havoc around the world.  Although at times it can feel like climbing a mountain with no reward, it’s always good to try and find a silver lining.

Our experiences over the past 18 months have certainly provided many opportunities for growth.  There is no doubt that my capacity to adapt, to build relationships through communication and to think critically about the work that I do has developed.  I know that I've developed my resilience and built my understanding of the things that I can control - and the things that I can’t.

Time in the ‘learning pit’ is not always fun, but in retrospect it’s always great to reflect on personal growth and the things that one needs to continue to strive to be better at.  I encourage students to take the time to reflect on their growth and to continue to do the amazing job they’re doing in working their way through every challenge.

Look forward to seeing everyone back at NHS soon!

University Open Days 2021

Universities are generally running their Open Day events via online platforms again this year.  Many universities are also offering opportunities for prospective students to visit their campus. July-August is the best time to explore what universities have on offer and how they can support you in reaching your goals for the future.

I strongly encourage all Year 11 and 12 students to actively participate in university Open days and special events if they are considering tertiary study in the future.
