Orientation for 2022

Once again we have welcomed many smiling new Preps to our school for their Orientation Day.  It was so wonderful to see the excitement and wonder on their little faces.  Our teachers enjoyed sharing the school experiences  by reading in class and completing craft activities.  Looking forward to welcoming you all next year!

St Vincent De Paul Christmas Hamper Drive

To the wonderful customers at Coles Altona Gate for donating to the St Vincent De Paul's Christmas Hamper drive. The generosity of the community will help many families in our community.

A special shout out to Allie L and her many Coles elves for organising this drive.

Mini Vinnies - Clothing Collection

Recently, Mini Vinnies members organised a collection of clothes for the homeless. Although we aimed to give the clothes to a charity called ‘300 Blankets’ several months ago, lockdown delayed the collection. 300 Blankets is dedicated to supporting people experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness in Victoria. As part of their service, the charity collects clothing and blankets to give to the homeless in Victoria. Our Mini Vinnies team was happy to help organise a clothing collection to support this charity. Through the support of our community, we collected over 20 bags of clothing.

A few weeks ago, all the Grade 6 students were fortunate enough to have the 300 Blankets President, Peter Royce, speak to them on a Zoom meeting last week. In this talk, he told us about homelessness and who 300 Blankets work with. The clothes were collected a few weeks ago. Peter was amazed at the amount of clothing we collected and was very grateful.

A big thank you to everyone who donated!

Dietrich, Year 6

Thanks

Gardening Club Update

The gardening club is back up and running! We certainly have our work cut out for us, the combination of wetter than normal weather and periods of lockdown has meant our veggie patch resembles more of a jungle, however, we are steadily making progress in getting our veggie beds prepared and ready for the next year. There are still lots of yummy seasonal veg to take home, such as artichokes, beetroot, and herbs aplenty.  If you are interested in joining us, we meet every Wednesday at lunchtime at the patch (behind the Italian room). Please bring along a reusable shopping bag so you can bring home anything you harvest.

Preps Visit to the Zoo

On Monday the year Preps went on a long awaited excursion to the Werribee Open Range Zoo. We had a fantastic time and went on the Safari Bus and walked around and saw all of the animals there. The weather was beautiful and we also experienced a Hero Habitat workshop in which we explored the natural habitat of our Australian animals and talked about what living things need.

Don't forget!
