Hello everyone
We have a number of events between now and the end of the year. The final Common Assessment Tasks (CATS) are underway in each class. This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning of the topics studied in Term 4 which contribute to the end of semester report.
Year 7s begin the Thinking Championships on Thursday 18th of November. There has been a long tradition of the Thinking Championships at Churchill Campus where students are involved in team activities designed to apply their problem solving skills. I wish all the countries well and look forward to photos and an update in the next newsletter.
Our Year 10s are on the home stretch before they begin their Year 11 classes at University Campus on the Monday 29th November.
During week 9, November 29 – December 3rd, we have the following calendar events:
Correction Day – Monday 29th November - this is a student free day for Years 7 - 9.
Conversations for Success begin on November 30th – December 2nd for all Year 7-9 families. Booking times are available on Compass. Staff will phone you at your preferred time for a quick chat on how we can best support your child with their learning.
COVID-19 restrictions have prevented us from holding Campus Award Ceremonies, in fact we had positive feedback from both students and staff on the Year Level Award ceremonies held last year. Awards ceremonies will once again be held in year levels. At this stage we are working through density requirements and limits with our available spaces so it may not be possible to invite all families. More information will be provided closer to the date.
Year 9 Awards – Tuesday, November 30th at 1.50 pm
Year 8 Awards – Wednesday, December 1st at 1.50 pm
Year 7 Awards – Thursday, December 2nd at 1.50 pm
Celebration Day at Gumbuya World on December 3rd is for all students across the college in Years 7 – 12. This is a free event and a wonderful opportunity for our entire college to celebrate the end of a challenging year. Permission forms are on Compass and students are asked to select their lunch preference in advance.
Gumbuya World require staff and students aged 16 and above to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Students and staff will need to show evidence of their vaccination status prior to boarding the bus and then again before entering the park.
Kind regards
Cleo
