Secondary School Captains Report

by Jakob P

This year’s first VCE students have had a bit of a struggle, in fact we all have, with the ups and downs and ins and outs of several lock downs, we know the VCE students weren’t the only ones who struggled with a lack of motivation throughout those often-snap lockdowns. But we have all made it through and are finally finishing up this year.

Although we’ve all struggled, there were many highlights this year for us as students, this includes gaining the ability to constantly adapt to whether we are home or at school, and for us as senior school students, choosing our subjects for a final year of school and having our first look at VCE exams.

Next year, we are looking forward to our last year of schooling, although scary, mostly exciting for our year 11’s. This is also quite exciting for our school as The Lakes finally will become a prep to 12 school for the first time.

While 2021 wasn’t what we initially imagined, early in the year we were able to hold a number of excursions and events before lockdowns such as School sport, the Athletics Carnival and even the Phillip Island camp. During lockdown it wasn’t all bad as some classes were even able to have online incursions via Zoom.

We are super thrilled for next year to come, we’re sure it will be full of exciting events and hopefully we won’t have any more interruptions. Emily and I have had great fun hosting the few assemblies we’ve had as well as everything else we have been a part of. Thank you for your support through our journey as the first senior school captains, good luck next year, have a fun and relaxing holiday, stay safe and enjoy it, you all deserve it.
