The Challenge of Lockdown

We have met every challenge served up in 2021 with flying colours. The Lakes village has supported each other in so many ways. Being on the end of a phone, digital media, a bunch of flowers or a food drop off all have quietly occurred with little fuss and a lot of joy.

The welfare and wellbeing of our community is at the top of the list and relearning to communicate will take a little time but we can do it together. Stay calm and never give up on each other.

We farewell on our Primary Campus Sally, Brett and Dani while on Secondary we say farewell to Nina, Robert, Rachel, Marcus F, Gemma, Steph and Shana. Each and every one of these staff have left their mark on The Lakes. Some have been on board for 13 years, others directed and produced many productions and Song Dance and Drama Nights while other have extended enthusiasm and new directions for engaging students. To each and every one of you we thank you and wish you well!

We will see the final phase of our transition to a P-12 College in 2022. Where possible we will honour the traditions and create some new ones. Art installations are appearing as we celebrate our diversity and the talents of our students. Shaded learning spaces and sustainable gardens will feature while we encourage opportunities for more community connections. The buzz of our facilities being shared with our families is both refreshing and exciting.

Learning, leading and collaborations will be high priorities moving forward. I would like to take this opportunity to thank families, staff and students for their determination and survival skills this year and to my leadership team a massive shout out. The students are always our focus and we always win when they achieve.

Enjoy the break everyone and comeback safe.
