Prep

Well what a wonderful year we have had with the Preps so far! It has been a pleasure to watch each and every one of the Preps learn and grow across the year, facing new challenges head on with confidence and resilience. Well done to all of our students here at Grayling and a big congratulations to our youngest cohort for a very successful start to their primary education.

The last few weeks in STEM we have been learning all about our 5 senses. Each week we have looked at a different sense (touch, hearing, sight, smell and taste) and have discovered that our senses are very powerful in teaching us about our world. Last week we concentrated on good and bad smells and had the opportunity to smell different common household ingredients. Most children loved the smell of vanilla and oranges, and did not love the smell of cinnamon. Surprisingly, there were a couple of students who loved the smell of Brussels sprouts which caused many funny conversations!

This week the Preps made play dough as part of their learning about the sense of touch. They then enjoyed designing and creating their own crazy play dough alien. Their design brief was to create their alien using different textures (i.e. soft pipe cleaners, smooth googly eyes…). The session was a lot of fun!

Well done Preps on a wonderful year!
