Year 5 - 6

What a year it’s been!  It’s hard to believe that it is already December and that our school year is coming to an end. We have been amazed and impressed at how quickly the 5/6 students have adapted to changes this year and are so proud of the learning and growth that we have seen. It’s been wonderful being able to finish off 2021 at school, back with all our friends.

This week our students started their final inquiry project for this year with a focus on Business and Economics.  Students are investigating what is needed to start up their very own business and have been busy designing logos and slogans and advertisements!

Last week we attended The Summit Camp for a day full of amazing camp activities. The students pushed themselves out of their comfort zones and participated in all sorts of activities - from Giant Swings to holding 2 metre pythons. To end the day, we used all of our teamwork skills to complete the Monster Course. We ran, climbed and swam our way through the course and everyone came out wet, muddy and smiling from ear to ear at the other end. A great day was had by all and there were plenty of sleeping faces on the bus ride home.

This week we have the pleasure of listening to some of our Grade 5 students give their speeches for next year’s captains roles. They did an amazing job!  We are so proud of every single student who was brave enough to have a go at applying for these roles. Well done!

It is with extreme sadness we wish our Grade 6 students farewell and all the best as they embark on the next chapter of their life. Their contributions to our school this year, will positively impact future generations of Grade 6 students and our wider school community for years to come. Our 2021 Grade 6’s have set high standards for future Grade 6 students and we wish them well in their future endeavours.

As we approach the end of the school year, we would like to wish our 5/6 families a wonderful Christmas season. We hope that there will be opportunities to spend some time focusing on those things that really matter in life. We sincerely thank everyone for your support during another challenging year and look forward to seeing you all in 2022.
