Year 3 - 4

WE WENT ON CAMP!!!!! Who would have thought we would be able to have a camp day? But we definitely did and it was amazing!!! Students were challenged to do something they had never done before- we “unleashed our greatness”. We climbed, crawled, swung, jumped, swam, slid, ran, balanced, walked on nails, held snakes together and had fun doing it.  

Writing

We commenced our multi-genre writer’s notebook unit. During this unit, students select which genre they want to write, using their prefered medium, from a range of writing prompts. This unit promotes student agency as students are empowered to write. But most importantly, it makes writing even more fun!!!!!! Look at some examples of our multi-genre writing….

Reading

The anticipation continues to grow in the learning community as we continue reading ‘The BFG’. Each day during reading, students are eagerly excited to begin the next chapter of ‘The BFG’ and see what will happen next. After each chapter, students are completing an activity which is linked to each chapter. This week students have analysed how characters change throughout the book. In this circumstance, many students wrote about how either Sophie and/or the BFG changed from the beginning to now. Next week will be the last week of reading ‘The BFG”, can't wait to see what happens at the end of the book.

Maths 

We have been continuing on with our next steps in learning. The students have been working on their Place Value goals and we have been using lots of hands-on activities. Students have continued to take ownership of their learning by seeking clarification when needed and voicing if next steps need to be changed. 

It’s beginning to look alot like Christmas!

On the 1st of December we played Christmas carols whilst putting up and decorated our Learning community Christmas trees. Over our last few weeks at school we look forward to exploring celebrations around our world, and celebrating our epic year together.

Learning community 4 is lucky enough to have a visiter for the rest of the year. Buddy joined us this week and we look forward to seeing what mischief he gets up to whilst at Grayling.
