Primary Interschool Athletics

The Primary Athletics team competed in their second event on Thursday 11 November at the Domain Athletics Centre, in the JSSATIS (Independent Schools) Athletics Carnival. The team competed strongly in many events, securing a host of ribbons. Well done to all the girls for trying their best and representing the College so well.

Secondary Touch Football Finals

The Southern Touch Junior Schools Roster at Wentworth Park has drawn to a close with Mount Carmel well represented in grand finals.

On Monday, Year 7 Gold finished in 2nd position, earning a place in the Grand Final against Clarence High. Unfortunately, Clarence High were too strong taking out the Final 11-2, but the Mount Carmel team played well and showed great spirit to finish the season with a strong performance.

It was touch and go for the Year 8 team on whether or not they would have enough players for the competition, and so it was a fantastic achievement to reach the Grand Final. In a tight tussle with St Mary’s, the match was tied up with just 10 minutes remaining. With Mount Carmel just having the bare 6 players, it was St Mary’s experience and extra run in the end that secured them the premiership 4 - 2 in the dying minutes. The team played extremely well for a group that were new to touch football, and included Year 6 student, Ruby Kaye who stepped up to fill-in and ended up playing out the season.

7 Navy played Collegiate in the play off for 3rd. Collegiate were too strong on the night, but the team was satisfied with their improvement through the season.

The Year 9 team finished their rain interrupted season last night in a match against Ogilvie. Well done to the team for their effort and commitment.

JSSATIS Cricket

The JSSATIS Girls cricket roster also concluded this week. The teams have had a lot of fun in their rosters, learning some new skills and showing great team spirit. A few games were lost to the rain this season, but teams adapted well and made the most of their matches. Thanks to the team facilitators who made this roster possible.

The girls represented themselves and the school so eloquently and displayed enthusiasm and fair play. I hope they had fun and will be back again next year.
