A Vision for Reconciliation

This year SKiPPS has undergone the process of developing a RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan) for the school. This is a working document that outlines the goals our school community would like to achieve towards strengthening our understanding and ways of implementing Reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the classroom, in the community, and around the school.

Part of this document involves creating a Vision for Reconciliation that summarises the aims of our school. Before we submit our first Reconciliation Action Plan, we would love for you to read this Vision, and send us any feedback on how we can strengthen and improve this statement.

As part of the development of a RAP, we are also seeking expressions of interest from anyone who would like to be part of the RAP Working Group in 2022.

Please send any feedback on the Vision for Reconciliation or expressions of interest/questions for working with the RAP Working Group to Stephen at stephen.stanisic@education.vic.gov.au by Friday 10th December.

SKiPPS DRAFT VISION OF RECONCILIATION

At SKiPPS we are committed to learning about and increasing our understanding of First Nation cultures and knowledge. We strive to work and learn as a community to better initiate opportunities for Reconciliation.

We commit to building reciprocal connections and relationships with local First Nations peoples, deepening our understanding and valuing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, heritage and Connection to Country.

We will work as educators to incorporate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in our classrooms, and endeavour to understand what it means to teach on Country.
