Some farewell words from Rosie

The end of an era...

As Neil mentioned in the last newsletter, after many years at SKiPPS I have decided it is time to move on to the next phase of my life and retire. Some children in my class informed me the other day that ‘very old’ people do this! I don’t feel that yet and still love teaching but believe it is best to leave when it is still a passion. I have had an absolute ‘ball’ at our wonderful school: I began at SKiPPS in 1987, saying to people that I would move on after 2 years… Well, obviously that didn’t happen, as I loved it so much.

I began life at SKiPPS as a Visual Arts, Performing Arts, PE and Maths specialist when the school had an enrolment of 112 children. Since then I have taught all grades from Foundation (Prep as it was then) to Grade 6. I’ve often been asked which is my favourite grade level and my answer has always been “The one I’m teaching this year.” I’ve loved it all! One of the joys of being at a school so long is to teach the children of students I taught years ago. What a privilege!

I am excited about my next phase of life, which will still include some Casual Relief Teaching at SKiPPS, when I’m not spending time with family and friends (something we’ve all missed over the last two years), beach walking, bike riding, pottering in the garden, watching the Saints win their second Grand Final (well I can always dream) and watching lots of cricket.

I am honoured to have been a part of such a wonderful school community for so many years. I have made some life-long friends at SKiPPS and have taught some amazing children.

With fond memories,

Rosie Greagg
