STRATEGIC PLANNING

Last week, the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat held strategic planning consultation workshops the central zone. Although attendance was lower than expected, we appreciated the chance to engage with the community to hear their thoughts on the needs of the education community as we move towards 2024.  We thank St Patrick’s College Community and St Alipius School Community for their hospitality in hosting the events.

The next round of workshops will focus on communities in the northern zone of Mildura and Swan Hill. The workshops are on 27 and 28 August at 4:30pm and 7:00pm each day. For full details, please see the attached flyer.

There may be further opportunities for school communities to take part in more workshops. If you are interested, please contact the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat directly.

DUTY OF CARE - EXTERNAL BENCHES ON ELEVENTH STREET

We prioritise student safety above all else and are constantly our campuses and facilities to make sure they remain safe for all students, families and staff. In a recent self-audit, we found that the positioning of the benches outside the College on Eleventh St posed a potential safety risk, so students are no longer permitted to gather there. When students arrive on campus, the duty teacher will direct them to the oval instead. Students may sit on the oval benches in the morning, at recess and lunchtime. Please refrain from using your mobile phone at all times in accordance with St Joseph’s student mobile phone policy.

In addition, if students enter College grounds and wish to leave, they MUST sign out at the Student Office. Students cannot leave the College without signing out. If we cannot locate a student, we may have to contact parents and possibly even the police. Do the right thing and stay safe at school.
