DEPUTY'S DESK

LEARNING AND TEACHING REPORT
As we move towards the end of the semester it can be a very busy time. Good time management and effective use of time are critical at this stage. Parents can play a crucial role in this and can really help to reduce the stress levels for their child. If you are unsure how to best do this, please contact your child’s homeroom teacher and they will be able to assist you.
Over the next four weeks small groups of Year 10 students (3 or 4 at a time) will meet with various members of College Leadership. These meetings are a great opportunity for the students to provide some input into making VCE at St Joseph’s College, the best it can be for them and to ensure that they are provided with the maximum opportunity for them to attain their education goals, whether that be VCE, VCAL or VET goals.
We want to hear what the students’ aspirations are and to discuss with them the best possible way for them to attain those aspirations. One of the questions we will be asking all students is 'What do you think would help you achieve your goals at Years 11 and 12?' We offer many advantages and opportunities for our Year 11 and 12 students. Such as:
However, we are always happy to hear the students’ perspectives because we constantly strive to improve what we offer to our senior school students. We began conducting these meetings for the first time in 2018, and many positive developments came out of those initial meetings, such as the Year 11 Common Room and a revised Year 11 Head Start program that now includes the Novus Urban Experience. If you have a child in Year 10, please encourage them to attend so that they can have a say in shaping their senior school experience.
A reminder to Year 11 students, please return the Perisher Snow Camp forms right away. This skiing season looks to be one of the best yet. In just three days, more than 60 cm of snow fell at Perisher. Hopefully, these conditions will continue so that we will enjoy a sensational trip to Perisher in August.
Please log in to the Parent Access Module (PAM) and update your child’s medical information if you have not already done so this year. A quick check last week indicated that many students’ medical files were incomplete. So that the College can provide the best care for your child, please update their medical files. All information provided is kept confidential.
