Walkathon Reminder that the College Walkathon is taking place on Sunday 21 May with fundraising for the event underway. The College will again be using a cashless system and donations to the Parents & Friends Association can be made easily via this link: https://events.humanitix.com/mca-walkathon-2023
Student participation on Sunday 21 May is compulsory and if for any reason your son cannot attend, please ensure you contact his Head of House or Year 5-6 Pastoral Leader prior to the Walkathon. A reminder that College activities take precedence over Club commitments.
As part of our environmental focus, all walkers are reminded to bring their own refillable water bottle as bottled water will not be available on the course.
We encourage you to come along and walk with your sons for this special College event.
National Road Safety Week will be held from Sunday 14 to Sunday 21 May. We can all do our bit to ensure that road safety is a priority. Every time you are on the road, choose to drive so others survive. Take the pledge online and visit roadsafetyweek.com.au for more information.
Pledge your commitment to drive so others survive, wear a yellow ribbon to raise awareness, and encourage friends and family to always take care on our roads.
We all have a role to play in making our roads safe. Further resources can be found at: National Road Safety Week.
This month Marist SchoolTV has a focus on Youth Mental Health.
Parents and carers can play a crucial role in their children's mental health. As a result, staying informed on the current state of youth mental health is vital, as it not only affects individuals but also families and communities. According to recent research, the frequency of mental health disorders among young people is increasing, with anxiety, depression and self-harm being among the most common challenges.
The link below will take parents to a series of informative articles and short videos (2 – 5 minutes) on this topic. https://marash.qld.schooltv.me/newsletter/state-youth-mental-health
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact his relevant pastoral leader or email our school counsellors at counsellors@marash.qld.edu.au
Later this term, across Weeks 7–8, the college will focus students on International Men's Health Week with student-led initiatives.
