We pray for any in our community suffering in seen and unseen ways.
May our loving God, with Mary and Champagnat, walk with all members of the Marist family. Amen
It is a centuries-old custom of Catholics to dedicate the month of May to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The month of May is always part of the Easter season, the fifty days we celebrate in the liturgy the Resurrection. The celebration of May as a Marian month fits well with the liturgical celebrations of Easter and Pentecost as we recall Mary's great joy in her Son's victory over death as well as her presence with the apostles in the upper room prayerfully awaiting the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
As Marists, we believe that Mary is with us, that she intercedes for us and that as we journey through our lives we are loved and cared for by the God who was with Mary.
We pray.
We turn to you for protection
Holy Mother of God
Listen to our prayers
and help us in our needs.
Save us from every danger
glorious and blessed Virgin.
Amen

Reflection for Thursday 11 May, 5th week of Easter. The majestic and intimate Last Supper teaching of Jesus continues. In today's Gospel reading, the Lord instructs His disciples to live on in His love.
There are three aspects of Christ's love, that we need to imitate to live in His love.
First, Jesus' love is obedient to the Father. The lord tells us what we will live in His love if we are faithful to the Commandments. Our love for Jesus is verified and proven not by our words but in what we do and how we live. The touchstone of Christian living, however, is not only the Commandments. They are the baseline from which the distinctively Christian life begins. The Lord calls on us to go further than the Commandments and to imitate His love in letter and spirit.
Secondly, Jesus' love is a redeeming love. We live within His love if we accept its cleansing power into our life. Jesus' love is a dynamic power that brings us forgiveness and sets us free. If we want to be liberated from sin, we must experience the personal drama of repentance and the resolution to walk once more with Christ. This turning to Christ finds concrete expression in the Sacrament of Penance.
Lastly, Jesus' love is a sacrificial love. It entails not simply a warm feeling toward another but giving up something of ourselves, even our rights, for the good of others.
The Acts of the Apostles recounts a controversy that could have ripped apart the early Church. But each side sought compromise on nonessential things, and the Church grew. Sometimes it happens that people want Church or parish unity but exclusively on their own terms, expressed in the popular phrase, "my way or the highway." Sacrificial love entails giving up our prerogatives for the good of others. As a line from a popular book says, "It is not only about us."
To live in Christ's love is to imitate His love through obedience to the Commandments, to receive His redeeming love in the Sacrament of Penance, and to show His sacrificial love by being willing to give up something of ourselves for the good of the Church. This kind of love is not easy, but it gives life.
Mary, Our Good Mother, pray for us.
St Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
St Mary of the Cross, pray for us.
And let us always remember to pray for one another.
ROSIES
Thanks to the Year 12 Students who have volunteered to work with the ROSIES Street Outreach programme for the 2023 year.

It seeks to form Christian leaders by making Jesus Christ known and loved among them – the Mission of the Marist Institute and of this College.
It involves regular meetings; faith formation experiences and service opportunities and students are invited to become game changers through their participation in the group.
Game Changers is grounded in a series of tracks, each with their own stories, symbols and activities.
Through their participation in each track, the students come to a deeper appreciation of what and who shapes our Christian identity and Marist spirituality.
Each track is led by a Mentor (member of staff). Each track lasts two years.
Groups will meet regularly during Break times beginning Term 2.
