Girls Football Gala Day

Congratulations to the girls who represented Sacred Heart in the Colac Division Girls Football Gala Day last Friday at the Central Reserve. The girls were the overall winners on the day, and will now travel to Ballarat to play in the Greater Western Girls Football Championships on Thursday 22nd June. 

A big thank you to the boys who umpired on the day and to the parents/grandparents who supported the day.

 

We wish the following boys all the best, when they compete against St Mary’s Primary School in boys netball matches - Fred Melville, Jesse McCarthy, Max Mitchell, Seth Cameron, Manny Robb Bodhi Baker, Jack Seuren, Finley Geary, Louis Hickey, Mickey Mathoat, Zaiden Finn, Brady Hickey, Leon Whitehouse, Hudson Oborne, Reuben Duncan and Stathi Papafotis. Thanks in advance to Scarlett and Matilda Gibson for offering to umpire on the day.

The students will travel by bus to St Mary’s Primary school on Friday 2nd June. The bus will leave Sacred Heart at 11:15am and return at approximately 1:45pm. Children may still have a lunch order.

Sacred Heart Cross Country Results

Well done to all the children in Years 3-6 who participated in a “Class Cross Country”. It was great to see all the children ‘having a go’. The results for each class were as follows:

Sacred Heart Swimming Program

We are half way through our swimming program at Heather Swim School. It is great to see the progress the children are making. Thanks to parents who have been helping our teachers with walking the children to the pool. 

Football and Netball Umpires Urgently Needed

On Thursday 8th June, many of our Year 5 and 6 students will be representing Sacred Heart in the Colac Division Football and Netball Lightning Premierships. The football will take place at the Western Oval and the netball will be held at the Eastern Reserve. We do need umpires for both of these events. If you have a student at Trinity or Colac Secondary College that would be willing to help out on the day, can you please let me know?

Name: Tahlia Kelly (Yr 5RO)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Basketball because I am tall and I like doing basketball trials.

2. What is your best sporting moment? When I went to the Greater Western Region Athletics to represent the Colac Division in Triple Jump.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? My strengths are my speed and my height.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is a fun way to learn new skills and tricks.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Asha Mahoney. Why are they your favourite? She is my favourite because she is always willing to play anything.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Colac Kookas in basketball, because they always push themselves in a match and at training.

 

Name: Max Meade (Yr 5JT) 

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? My favourite sporting game is the “Backboard Game” I like it because it is fun and makes you run a lot and it is good for teamwork.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was being the only team member left in the “Backboard Game”, and I won it for my team.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete? The strengths I have that make me a good athlete is my speed and strength.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because it is fun and keeps me active and energetic.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Charlie Cameron for Brisbane Lions. Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite player because I like the dance he does when he kicks a goal. 

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Brisbane Lions

 

Name: Lewis Harris (Yr 6TR)

1. Which sport is your favourite to play and why? Soccer is my favourite sport because it is fun to play and the skills of the game are good.

2. What is your best sporting moment? My best sporting moment was when I scored a full pitch goal in soccer.

3. Which strengths do you believe you have that make you a good athlete?  My strengths that make me a good athlete is my resilience and patience.

4. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing in a great game of soccer because it is fun and exciting.

5. Who is your favourite sports person? Erling Haaland Why are they your favourite? He is my favourite because he has great soccer skills and he is patient. I also like his hair.

6. What is your favourite sporting team? Manchester City
