Lost Property from Mother's Day event
We have some items which were left at the college after Friday's Mother's Day event. If you have lost an item, please contact the college and we can arrange to return it to you.
Science
Science Club
This week in Science Club, we made Crystal/Chemical Gardens. The activity consists of putting metal salts into a liquid solution of 'water glass' or sodium silicate solution, that causes these salts to expand and grow hollow tubes, making it appear as if the mineral salts are growing like plants. We used a variety of salts including calcium chloride, copper (II) chloride, iron (II) sulfate, iron (III) chloride and manganese (II) chloride. The crystals take about 30 min - 1 hour to grow to the top of the solution. Have a look at the gardens that were grown this week.

Year 11 Biology Excursion
Last week, Year 11 Biology students travelled to Sydney Olympic Park to learn about Ecosystem Dynamics. Students heard stories of the history and rehabilitation of the once industrial wasteland and studied the ongoing effects of human activity on the delicate ecosystem. Students engaged in practical activities such as determining the distribution and abundance of mangroves, salt marsh and semaphore crabs. This valuable learning experience allowed students to put theory into practice in an authentic and significant context.
