Feast of the Ascension
The Feast of the Ascension marks the day that Jesus Christ ascended into heaven. It occurs forty days after Easter Sunday and Christ is believed to have risen to heaven at Mount Olivet near Bethany.
In the Gospel of Luke we read: (Luke 24:50-53)
Jesus Is Taken Up to Heaven
Then he led them out of the city as far as Bethany, where he raised his hands and blessed them. As he was blessing them, he departed from them and was taken up into heaven. They worshiped him and went back into Jerusalem, filled with great joy, and spent all their time in the Temple giving thanks to God.
Mass times at Our Lady of Dolours are 9:00 am and 12:30 pm for those who are able to attend.
Chapel Mass
Our Chapel Masses continue this term on Monday 22 May with Mr Davidson’s Year 9 Religious Education Class 5 hosting our Mass. As a community we welcome members of the St Pius X College and Mercy College communities. Once again we are fortunate to have the support of the clergy of Our Lady of Dolours, in particular Fr Joey Frez.
Eddie Rice Hours
In a new initiative in which students of St Pius X College join together with parishioners of Our Lady of Dolours, students of the college volunteered at Bunnings to operate the BBQ to raise much-needed funds for Streetworks. The parish were overjoyed to have the support of the college, and the young men of Year 11 enjoyed the experience of giving of their time in support of those who live on the margins. The much-needed funds will go towards providing a more dignified experience for those who experience hardship in the local area. We look forward to many more opportunities for the young men of St Pius X College working for the good of those on the margins.
