Reflection
18 May - Ascension Thursday
Tomorrow is Ascension Thursday, which is the day, 40 days after Jesus' death, when he ascended to Heaven. This feast day is one of the significant ecumenical feasts of Christians, along with the celebrations of Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost. Ascension Thursday celebrates Christ's exaltation. While on earth, Jesus showed his humanity as a servant to all and living amongst us. Now in heaven, He is the ruler and Lord of all. By entering heaven as the representative of mankind, He completed the work of our salvation and guarantees the eventual glorification for us. Ascension Thursday marks the end of Easter and occurs 10 days before Pentecost.
We pray:
Lord Jesus Christ, right before your Ascension into heaven you told your apostles to be His witnesses to the ends of the earth upon receiving the Holy Spirit.
May we be similarly inspired to spread your Gospel message in word and deed, according to your will for us.
May we do so prudently and joyfully, with your help, your guidance, and your grace!
Remembering this glorious event, help us to seek what is above, Heaven, where you are seated at the right hand of God the Father!
We ask this prayer through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Blessed Edmund Rice, Pray for Us
St Pius X, Pray for Us
Live Jesus in our Hearts, Forever
Mother's Day Celebration
We had a spectacular morning last Friday with our Mother’s Day Celebration with over 700 people in attendance. We were blessed with beautiful weather, that certainly topped of such a special Liturgy that everyone in attendance enjoyed.
As our numbers continued to grow for this event, we created a live performance site and live streamed it to the Senior Library. It certainly ensured everyone could enjoy the morning in celebrating our mums with their sons.
Thank you certainly goes to our Performing Arts Department that highlighted our Senior and Junior Choir, conducted by Mrs Annabel Westhoff; Strings Ensemble led by Mrs Stella Talati and our Guitar Ensemble thanks to Mr Shane Cranney, provided the perfect music and atmosphere for this celebration.
Thank you also to our team in publications, who provided so many beautiful back drops, and the hugely popular Photo Booth, conducted by Mrs Tracy Bradley. A special word of thanks also goes to Mrs Jill Greenwood for her beautiful reflection and if there wasn’t a tear in your eye already, Eamon Boyle’s reflection about mothers and in particular, a privilege we received of a personal story of a young Eamon and his Mum, certainly made us all glassy eyed.
Thank you to Mr Nathan Mulheron who once again scripted the Liturgy perfectly and led it brilliantly. To our maintenance and catering teams, student and staff volunteers, along with the dads who volunteered, a huge thanks that ensured a beautiful morning to celebrate and thank all our mums of the Pius family.
The Month of May
The month of May is traditionally dedicated to Mary Our Mother in many cultures and so, fittingly, we celebrate Mother’s Day at this time.
Edmund Rice ensured his Brothers and students always prayed to Our Lady and still, 220 years on, a picture of Our Lady, along with the Cross, adorn every classroom and this reassuring prayer to Our Lady continues.

It will be a chamber concert and will showcase our choirs, string ensembles and guitar ensembles, along with our Year 12 soloists. Edmund Rice Education Beyond Borders (EREBB) Congress
Michael Ronchetti is presently in Dublin with all Edmund Rice Education School Leaders. This photo shows Michael exchanging EREBB Touchstone letters written from both schools' Year 7 students, with Patricia Ponce de Leon, the Principal of Stella Maris, a fellow Edmund Rice School in Uruguay. We look forward to Michael re-joining us on Monday, sharing and enriching the College from the experience of such a significant congress.
