Food Styling Task – TS506 Introduction to Hospitality

This term we covered the topic of food presentation and food styling. Our class was given the task of styling and photographing our Anzac biscuits, which could be used in a food magazine or cookbook. 

We were given a double lesson to make the biscuits and then plate up and style them in any way we thought best to take a magazine worthy photo.

The end product of this photo turned out quite well. My partner and I ended up deciding to stack the cookies as we saw quite a lot of other plated cookies styled like this and it looked really nice. We also decided to place the cookies outside to give more of a natural lighting and the seats outside made it look nice and really pulled the photo together. I think it went perfectly with the plate and the mat underneath it. The cookie that is slightly slipping off of the stack was also inspired by one of the many images we saw of different plated cookies.
